I wanted to review the list of movies that will be screened at the South by Southwest Film festival this year and post something about the sports movies. Then I looked at the list.
Apparently I’ll have to use the term sports very loosely. So without further adieu, here are the “sports” movies showing at SXSW this year:
- Pulling John – It’s a movie about a champion arm wrestler who is getting older and has to compete with a couple young up-and-comers.
- Snowblind – Snowblind is a documentary about, Rachael Scdoris, a blind Iditarod racer. The film explains dogsled racing and some of the people who compete during last March’s Iditarod.
- Soul Power -Soul Power is a documentary about a 12 hour concert promoting the “Rumble in the Jungle” heavyweight title fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. The film features performances from James Brown and B.B. King, among others.
So yeah, that’s it. Those are all the films featuring some essence of “sports” at South by Southwest this year. I actually wish this film was showing. Actually, who am I kidding? That movie would be awesome.
